Blogging in the real world

As most of you may know, recently in Tennessee several elected officials were arrested on charges of accepting bribes and, in one case, threatening to kill anyone that may testify against him. The FBI, TBI, and other law enforcement agencies were involved in the sting operation named “Tennessee Waltz”, one of Tennessee’s official state songs. Roger Abramson wrote and interesting postmortem concerning bloggings role in the reporting of the “Waltz”.

More info on the Tennessee Wlatz.

This was a good article. My one comment is that as blogs gain "importance" as a news medium, bloggers may start getting real credentials and may be able to talk to the police and other officials to get the same details as the other news media. If this is the case the bloggers have an advantage because they can post from immediately where they are while TV/radio/etc have to file a story. The next few years of blogging will be interesting for sure!
