Still Waiting...

Way back on May 31, I signed up not only to receive email updates but also volunteer on Bill Bolling's campaign Web site and I have not heard from the campaign since. In fact, I even re-submitted both requests on June 6 with a different email address. Even though I took the extra step to register again neither email address has received any word from the Bolling camp.

This makes me wonder why have a volunteer or email request link if you are not going to follow through and contact the people who want to support you? I think it is ridiculous. While I am not registered to vote in Virginia and would not vote for Bolling even if I was, there is no way for the campaign to know that.

For all they know I am a billionaire supporter willing to invest big money in the campaign. They could be making the biggest mistake of the campaign by not taking the time to contact me. The fact of the matter is they will never know, because at this point if I was a billionaire supporter I would be so disgusted with the campaign I would not give them my money.

I think that whoever I working on Bolling's site should get up, take action and respond to anyone who requests email updates or requests volunteer information. By not responding they are sending an awful message out to the public and I am sure they will lose a few votes as a result. Shame on you Bill Bolling!

Good post, DCAE. This is a poor performance on the part of the Boiling campaign. If they have people who are willing and able to seek the campaign out to volunteer, one would think that they would actually get this person involved. Technology like this is useless if the humans using it don't know what to do with it.

Not only is technology useless if the humans using it don't know what to do with it, but it is useless if those who do know what to do with it still don't do anything.

I feel this frustration with too many online organizations and causes. It seems like the only people who know how to really pounce when someone shows interest are the SPAMers...

Sometimes the newsletters get marked as SPAM and automatically filtered to the Trash or Bulk Mail folders. You may want to give them another try.

If that doesn't work, then you're absolutely right with your post!

Maybe they aren't capable of sending out emails yet, but they still want to be able to collect the info for the future. An easy way to handle this is to post a note on the email-sign up site that says that emails will start coming out on X date because they are "gearing up" now. When people know what to expect, they are okay with waiting. It's when you don't know that you get impatient!
