Fox "News"...

Trevor Potter and Kirk L. Jowers’ chapter on election law and its connection to the Internet was very informative. I originally thought the internet was entirely unregulated, but Potter and Jowers bring up some interesting “advancements” online. It is probably important for me to first note that strictly speaking I am against 99.9% of censorship. I don’t think anyone has the right to tell you what you think is unworthy of being heard…

There is an appropriate saying that states – Think wrongly if you must, but in all cases think for yourself.

Why would the FEC have any grounds to constrain online campaign communication when there is evidence that a lot of money has been allotted for “overtly partisan political speech" on a webpage? If anything the internet is a perfect medium for letting candidates and political parties spend and do as much as they want to influence and educate people based on their personal views. It’s absurd to me that “news” stations like Fox can exist (which is biased entertainment in its purest form) but there are people in this world (the FEC) that want to monitor and regulate the internet… Well, it’s quite a job they’ve taken on… come on guys, pick your battles!

I completely agree with you! The philosopher J.S. Mill, in his discussions on censorship, talks about how if you censor someone, you only hurt society. Their ideas simply go underground and remain unresolved.

Instead, I say we talk as much as we can. Bring out all those crazy, unappropriate, and down right wrong ideas to the forefront so we can prove them wrong and move on!

My talk, dark, and lovely friend, I concur with you on this issue. But, as I said in one of my own blogs, there is a problem that comes about when speech is aired, and no one listens. Just because someone says it doesn't make it prevalent.

Fellow Dem... As far as censorship goes, I don't think it matters if anyone is listening, the important thing is that they get the chance to say what ever it is that they want to say.
