A Fighting Chance....

I had to break up the readings for The Political Consultants’ Online Guide to Fundraising Primer over a few nights because it is so long, but I’m starting to really enjoy it.

I think the authors made a great point about the internet creating a revolution in fundraising. All of the sudden, in the past two presidential elections, internet-based fundraising has proven its legitimacy. I can not even imagine a campaign website that lacking some kind of method for donating – noting that some of the lower offices may have a mailing address for donations and not an online version. The growing capabilities of online fundraising are really exciting because of its speed and low cost.

It is encouraging to see what immense impact small donors had at the presidential level. Traditional media outlets are so expensive I think it’s really encouraging to see other than the “usually suspects” get a chance!
