Celebrity Regurgitation
As you can see, some of my previous postings have questioned the actual impact of blogs. However, Michael Cornfield's statement in "The Bloggers Have All the Best News" article made me think about the issue in a slightly different way. Cornfield sees blogs as being influential more in the journalistic sphere than the political sphere. According to the article, "[Cornfield] believes that blogs have had a limited impact on the national conversation." This could very well be the case. The example referred to in this article was "Rathergate," which led me to wonder, what has happened to investigative journalism in the main stream media? Why have network journalists, such as Dan Rather, simply become celebrity figures who regurgitate "news" while independent bloggers are doing the investigative work and finding the true news?
